Acupuncture

Acupuncture is based on a system of energy pathways, or meridians, in the body. When these pathways are flowing properly, the body is healthy. When they aren’t, imbalances occur that create a variety of symptoms. The needles access these pathways and reset the system, so to speak.
Everyone’s experience of being needled is different, but most people experience absolutely minimal pain. There may be momentary discomfort when the needle is first inserted. After that, you probably won’t even be aware that the needle is there. The needles are solid, tiny and hair-thin.
Acupuncture is one of the safest modalities and has the fewest side effects of any form of medicine. Needles are sterile and disposable – they are used once then disposed.
Both the World Health Organization and the National Institute of Health acknowledge acupuncture as beneficial in treating a range of illnesses and conditions. Here’s just a partial list: addiction such as cigarette smoking or alcoholism (Sage Center’s practitioners are NADA-certified Acupuncture Detoxification Specialists), allergies, asthma, carpal tunnel syndrome, constipation, diarrhea, fibromyalgia, headaches, immune support, irregular menstrual cycles, polycystic ovarian syndrome, low back pain, menopausal symptoms, menstrual cramps, osteoarthritis, sinusitis, irritable bowel syndrome, stroke rehabilitation, tendonitis, tennis elbow, and urinary problems.
Keep in mind that many patients seek treatment for a specific issue and find that it positively impacts other, seemingly unrelated, concerns, health issues they may have simply learned to endure, and their overall quality of life.

Energy Healing

Nearly every culture and tradition recognizes that energy fields act as information centers and perceptual systems that surround and exist within the human body. Energy healing acts under the assumption that physical ailments, disease and pain as well as mental and emotional stresses relate to imbalances in these energy fields that can be identified and treated.
Practicing energy healing involves trained listening to the energy fields, followed by activating and restoring natural healing energies to enhance the body’s innate abilities to heal itself.
Since the mid-twentieth century, western scientific medicine acknowledged the significance of the body’s magnetic fields, and even more recently scientific research has recognized the value of energy healing. Prestigious institutions like Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston have incorporated energy work into their treatment practices.
Energy healing:

  • alleviates pain and discomfort,
  • speeding recovery from accidents, acute injuries and surgery by accelerating the body’s natural healing ability,
  • assisting to release emotional trauma and shock,
  • alleviating toxic and allergic patterns,
  • reducing tension and stress,
  • promoting mental focus,
  • increasing energy level and
  • expanding emotional and spiritual growth and development.

Energy healing is an alternative to more invasive Western treatments. It is also an excellent complement when integrated with Western medicine. For example, many cancer patients use energy healing to help with nausea and fatigue during chemotherapy, or clients who have recently undergone surgery seek out energy healing to speed the recovery process.
In addition to healing physical concerns, energy healing provides a spiritual element to healing that is absent in traditional medicine. It is an open, nurturing relationship where clients recognize that their unique needs and concerns are noticed, valued and acknowledged.
